Note the engineer putting a lid on the funnel to seal it from the rain. The ‘Lincoln Castle’ was later moved across the dock to its position alongside the National Fishing Heritage Centre. It opened as a bar and restaurant in 1989. The historic paddle steamer was demolished in 2010.
The PS ‘Lincoln Castle’ was ordered in 1939 and was built in Glasgow. She was in service as a Humber ferry between 1941 and 1978. It operated between New Holland, Lincolnshire and Hull.
