WW2 Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) badge 1938-1941.

An original, rare survivor from WW2. This AFS (Auxiliary Fire Service) breast badge was once sown to a pair of overalls.

The AFS was formed as part of the Civil Defence Service when war seemed likely in 1938 and was superseded by the NFS (National Fire Service) in August 1941.

Note: The borough of Grimsby AFS became part of the Louth Group 10 of the NFS.
