Lily King’s wartime identity bracelet c1939.

Wartime

An original, silver bracelet made from 1930s silver threepences. The bracelet shows Lily’s name and postal address. It also shows her enumeration district (ED). Many wartime identity bracelets show these codes. The same codes are seen on the 1939 Register.

Lily King, née Holmes, was born on 19th June 1900. She married Charles Edmond King in Grimsby in 1925.

In 1939, Charles Edmond King was a general labourer in a ship repairing yard. Lily looked after the home. They had a son, John E., who was a milk boy. Charles’ additional wartime work was in Royal Workshops working for the ARP, AFS and LNER. Did he make this bracelet?

The family were living at 6 Wellington Street by 1930.

Charles Edmund King died on 5th February 1966. He was still living at 6 Wellington Street. Probate was granted to Lily and son, John Edmund King, postman.

John Edmund King died in Springfield Hospital in 1964.

Lily King died in 1991.

Note: Lily was probably born in Hull.
