From a c1890s Grimsby calendar.
An original, cardboard backing picture from a c1890s Charles Morton & Sons calendar.
Charles Morton & Sons manufactured jams, marmalade, pickles, lemon curd and sauce. They also described themselves as wholesale grocers, tea and coffee merchants and importers. Later they became retail grocers.
Charles Morton & Sons had premises at 11 & 12 Old Market Place (and earlier at West St. Mary’s Gate and also Cromwell Road too). The shop at 11 & 12 Old Market place was known as ‘Chambers’ by 1920. Chambers’ delicatessen is still affectionally remembered by many today.
