A rare image of ‘Bengal’ GY.103 taken from an original, medium format negative.

Built in 1905 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell of Beverley for Grant & Baker Steam Fishing Co. Ltd., Grimsby.

In February 1915, ‘Bengal’ was requisitioned by the Royal Navy as a minesweeper, ‘Bengal II’ FY.1150. In 1919, she was returned and reverted. In 1928, she was sold to Sir Thomas Robinson & Sons Ltd., Grimsby.

She was requisitioned by the Royal Navy for the second time in 1939 and renamed ‘Staunch’ FY.1591. In 1945, she was returned and reverted.

In May 1955, ‘Bengal’ GY.103 arrived in Charlestown, Cornwall for breaking up.
