An original photograph taken from Deansgate Bridge. The name of the amateur photographer is yet to be determined.

Eric C. Burton’s garage in Wellowgate is in the middle distance with the Moss Road Power Station in the far distance. The footbridge by the Wellowgate level crossing is missing. An exact date when the 1950s footbridge was built would help to date the photo.

The ‘cattle dock’, at the rear of Brighowgate Bus Station, is on the right. Also visible, is the rear of the Brighowgate Bus Station snackbar which can be seen on another photo on this page.

Walker Leigh Ltd., engineers, ironfounders & welders, have an advertisement on the left of the scene. This business ceased trading in 1971.
