The building on the right is the Empire Cinema. The film showing is ‘Sweetheart’ starring Lya Mara. This is the alternative title for the 1928 German film ‘Heut Tanzt Mariett’. This dates the photo nicely.

Gray’s, the popular caterers (parties a speciality), is next door to the cinema with a bazaar and a rock maker beyond. The Cleethorpes tram rolls past.

The sign on the left advertises the Palace Theatre, Grimsby.
