‘Esme’, ‘Coral Bank’ and ‘Searcher’ on the South Quay, Grimsby 1979.
From the 1979 original negative. (The clock in the picture shows that it was 11:30am.). The photographer was standing on a coaling jetty.
‘Esme’ GY.1402 Seine netter. Built Denmark 1943
‘Coral Bank’ GY.339 Seine netter. Built Peterhead 1956.
‘Searcher’ GY.172 Pair trawler. Built Denmark 1970.
Note the Ross Group ‘A’ factory in the background. Ross House is just out of view to the left of the picture. The buildings behind GY.172 are former Associated Fisheries buildings. Note the ‘A’ symbol on the wall. This was painted over when Cosalt took over the buildings.
The building behind ‘Coral Bank’ was Sleight’s building. The name used to be in the pale rectangle.
