An original albumen print from the Poulton’s Series. Samuel E. Poulton was active c1850-c1890. The lodge was built by the north-east gate of the park (Ainslie Street junction) in c1885-c1889.

Looking beyond the gates are fields. The houses in Welholme Road had yet to be built.
