The Avenue, People’s Park, Grimsby mid-1950s.

Grimsby

An original, printed postcard by F. Frith & Co., Ltd., Reigate.

Posted from Grimsby on 24th September 1956 by ‘L.’ of “Llanthony”, 8 Abbey Road. The recipients were Mrs & Miss Marshall, 8 Aldridge Rise, New Malden, Surrey. (House still there.)

The writer says that he/she has arrived safely. The weather in Grimsby is beautiful and they are sat in the garden. The train was packed. Sis & ? were at the station to meet the train. They have been for a ride in the beautiful countryside. A farmer in a little cart appeared and a dog got out and brought all the sheep to the gate. He divided them into twos and the farmer counted them and wrote the number in his book. He then clapped his hands and the sheep went off again. Love L.

Note that People’s Park is spelt incorrectly.
