An original 1904 price list. They had a surprising range of imported eggs!

M. Edwards, Robinson & Co. were located in Burgess Street, Grimsby. The address of their offices was 212 Burgess Street. The company had pickling stores in Grimsby and egg and pickling stores in Port Perry, Ontario Canada. It appears that a former company name was M. Edwards Ltd.

In 1881, Matthew Edwards was a provision dealer living at “Claremont Villa”, Dudley Street in Grimsby. He was born in Leeds in c1840 and had a wife called Ann who was about 9 years older.

In 1891, it appears that Matthew Edwards, a provision merchant, was living in Hull with a new wife, Fanny, who was born in Binbrook, Lincolnshire on 12th December 1862, 20 years younger than Matthew.

By 1901, Matthew Edwards, retired egg merchant, was living in Knaresborough (Harrogate), Yorkshire with wife Fanny and two nieces (Mary E. Jackson, widow, and Gertrude Skillington).

Matthew Edwards died on 30th June 1925 in Harrogate, aged 85. Fanny died in Harrogate on Christmas Day 1942.

Matthew Edwards’ business partner was Walter Charles Robinson. born in Hull in 1856.

In 1891, Walter Charles Robinson, a widower, was a clerk living at 6 Belgrave Terrace, Chantry Lane, Grimsby.

In 1901, Walter Charles Robinson, a widower, was an egg merchant living at 6 Belgrave Terrace, Chantry Lane, Grimsby.

In 1911, Walter Charles Robinson was an egg importer living at 3 Pelham Terrace, Bargate, Grimsby together with his wife Leah Nelson Robinson, born c1856 in Bovingdon, Herts and their three year old daughter, Nora, born in Grimsby.

Walter Charles Robinson died in Grimsby on 7th July 1912. Leah Nelson Robinson died on 3rd March 1928 in Reading.
