An original, wartime notebook with, mainly, handwritten lists of ingredients for medicines etc. A few dates are noted in the book, all wartime.
A number of Gordon Lock, (Grimsby) Ltd. medicine bottle labels are stuck in the notebook plus one for R. Boulton, M.P.S., Dispensing Chemist, Healing. In 1958. Gordon Lock (Grimsby) Ltd. were dispensing chemists & photographic chemists, opthalmic opticians, hearing aid consultants, 7/9 Chantry Lane, also at 16a Old Market Place, Hainton Square and 56 Wintringham Road.
(Arthur) Gordon Lock, chemist, was born in Louth on 9th July 1901. (Arthur) Gordon Lock married Melba Davison Jacobs in Grimsby in 1925. They had two children, Stephen and Jeanne. Gordon died in Grimsby on 19th December 1970 and Melba died in Skegness in 1979. The couple had lived at 145a Humberston Avenue, Humberston. (In 1939, they were living at 58 Park Drive, Grimsby.)
