An original, cabinet card photograph by Henry Blackburn of 42 Freeman Street, Grimsby.

Henry Blackburn, the photographer, was born in Liversedge, Yorkshire in on 18th July 1869. He married Jane Hardy in Dewsbury in 1894. Their third child was born Morley/Dewsbury in 1899 and their fourth child in Grimsby in 1900. This dates this photograph nicely, together with the clothing. Henry Blackburn was still at 42 Freeman Street in 1911. There was a 5th child by then.

The Blackburn family emigrated to Brisbane, Australia on the ship ‘Orsova’ on 22nd December 1911. They arrived on 5th February 1912. The family spent the remainder on their days in Queensland.
