William (‘Willie’) Atkin, milk vendor/dairyman, moved from 14 Dover Street to 30 Earl Street in 1914. He was still at 30 Earl Street in 1947. The house remains today and possibly the dairy building too.
William Atkin was born in Grimsby on 20th June 1879. He was the son of William Atkin, cowkeeper/milk producer. He married Alice Maud Brown of Cleethorpes, born on 10th May 1879, in 1903. They had a daughter, Vera, and a stepson, Fred Brown (1911 Census). Vera married Alfred Comins in 1925.
Willie Atkin died in 1947. Alice Maud Atkin, then of 99 Scartho Road, died in 1961. They are both buried at Scartho Road Cemetery. Daughter Vera Comins of 99 Scarthoe Road, died in 1979.
Note: Joseph Fred Woods, milk vendor, was living at 30 Earl Street in 1911.
