‘St Mark’ (previously ‘Boston Tristar’ GY.210) sinking off Cromer 1990.

The trawler ‘Boston Tristar’ GY.210 was built as ‘Captain Foley’ LO.33 (London) in 1960 by John Lewis & Sons Ltd., Aberdeen. She was built for Iago Steam Trawling Ltd., London and fished out of Fleetwood. The whole Iago fleet was sold to Boston Deep Sea Fisheries (Fred Parkes) and, in 1972, ‘Captain Foley’ was renamed ‘Boston Tristar’ and registered as GY.210. She only made a few trips out of Grimsby and was then transferred to Lowestoft.

In 1976 ‘Boston Tristar’ GY.210 was bought by Colne Shipping Co. Ltd., Lowestoft and renamed ‘St. Mark’ and registered as LT.327. In 1980, she was deregistered as a fishing vessel and converted to an oil rig support vessel.

‘St. Mark’ sank off Cromer, Norfolk in August 1990 following a collision with the anchor-handling tugboat ‘Vikingbank’.

Note: Trapped air kept the bow above water for a while.
